Synaptics Inc. (SYNA)
What the Company Does
Synaptics Incorporated develops and supplies custom-designed human interface solutions that enable people to interact with various mobile computing, communications, entertainment, and other electronic devices. The company provides custom interface solutions for navigation, cursor control, and multimedia controls for PC original equipment manufacturers. It primarily targets the personal computer market and the market for digital lifestyle products, including mobile smart phones and feature phones, portable digital music and video players.
History
The company was founded in 1986 and is based in Santa Clara, California.
The Good
Synaptics Inc. designs technology for the computing and cell phone industry. The company invented touch pads on laptops. SYNA currently has projects for laptops, portable pc’s, and new cell phone devices from the likes of Google and Blackberry. SYNA is a leader in its field and continues to offer a great product line while continuing to push the envelope and discover new technologies for their many clients.
The Bad
With business’ cutting back due to the economic downturn, companies have been cutting back on everything, especially in technology spending. Cell phones, Blackberries and lap tops have all seen a significant slowdown and if this trend continues, SYNA’s growth will be severely stalled.
The Lowdown
Touch screen phones and future touch screen devices figure to keep SYNA profits growing now and in the future. In the not so distant future, everyone will have a touch screen phone or computing device as our technology experts believe that keyboards will go the away of the floppy disk. Extinct. SYNA is in a great position to capitalize if indeed this is the case. SYNA has provided great products to their clients so a steady flow of repeat business to go along with the company continuing to win new business will keep this company a winner for a long time. A company with great potential to be the next technological giant.

Following up on our Top 50 Stocks of 2010, today we look at Number 32, BB&T Corp. [BBT].
This is one of the most solid financial institutions in the U.S. today. This regional bank is extremely well run. BBT could be a solid investment for years to come. In fact, it will probably be in our year end report of Stocks to Own for the next twenty years.
Here is our report from last September when we recommended the stock when it was selling at $27.17. The stock closed after hours today at $34 even. Of course, everything is up from September but still a nice gain. Also we believe that the stock will be worth $60 a share within the next 7 to 8 years so a buy and hold strategy with its small but safe dividend of $0.60 a share will give you some income while it slowly climbs.
If you would like our special report of The Van Buren Reports Top 50 Stocks of 2010 e-mail customerservice@vanburenreport.com with “Top 50″ in the subject line and we will send you a copy within 48 hours.
Why 2010 and Beyond:
While 2010 will still be a wait and see year for the financial industry, BB&T stands above the rest. BB&T passed all of the governments stress tests with no problems and was one of the first institutions to repay its TARP loans. While most financial institutions have somewhat rebounded to respectability last year, BB&T was laying the ground work through acquisitions and expansion to soar to the next level in 2010.
Company Basics:
BB&T Corporation (BB&T) is a financial holding company. The Company conducts its business operations primarily through its commercial banking subsidiary, Branch Banking and Trust Company (Branch Bank). Branch Bank provides a range of banking and trust services for retail and commercial clients in its geographic markets, including small and mid-size businesses, public agencies, local governments and individuals. As of December 31, 2008, Branch Bank provided services through 1,511 offices located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, West Virginia, Tennessee, Washington D.C., Alabama and Indiana.

This Small Cap may be breaking out. Every Monday we will be bringing you a future breakout! Meaning a stock that is close to breaking past its 52 week high and could really move after that. Technical indicators are in the early stages on these picks but you will want to own them before they possibly breakout to make some great returns.
Of course, we will only select top companies that are good to own and not just companies with not much potential and are only servicable to own to make a quick buck. Not our style here. SYKE is a good start. Its 52 week high of $26.91 looks like it will be challenged by the end of February.
Here is a little more on the company:
SYKES is a global leader in providing customer contact management solutions and services in the business process outsourcing (BPO) arena. SYKES provides an array of sophisticated customer contact management solutions to Fortune 1000 companies around the world, primarily in the communications, financial services, healthcare, technology and transportation and leisure industries.
SYKES specializes in providing flexible, high quality customer support outsourcing solutions with an emphasis on inbound technical support and customer service.
Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with customer contact management centers throughout the world, SYKES provides its services through multiple communication channels encompassing phone, e-mail, web and chat. Utilizing its integrated onshore/offshore global delivery model, SYKES serves its clients through two geographic operating segments: the Americas (United States, Canada, Latin America and Asia Pacific) and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). SYKES also provides various enterprise support services in the Americas and fulfillment services in EMEA, which include multi-lingual sales order processing, payment processing, inventory control, product delivery and product returns handling.
