Number 42 on our List of Top 50 Stocks of 2010 is the Harris Corp. [HRS].  A solid long term play here.  Here is a little more about the company:

This communications and information technology company has a great diversified product line and serves many clients domestically and internationally.  Harris has been winning contracts the past couples of years which should turn into significant earnings starting in 2010 to go along with its already profitable government projects.

IGT, International Gaming is still the best in class we believe but SHFL, Shuffle Master and MGAM, Multimedia Games could be some big climbers.

Gambling is down right now in the U.S. and gambling related stocks are beat down but profits will return once people start finding jobs again and have discretionary income to spend.

For our ETF Pick of the Week we are going back to our September 2009 report of the Top 10 ETF’s of 2010.  I will be doing a weekly countdown of The Top 10 ETF’s of 2010 from our September report in this column every Wednesday till we get to Number 1.

Starting off at Number 10 is PZI – PowerShares Zacks Micro Cap.  This Micro Cap ETF is definitely speculative in nature but packs a big punch.  As a long term holding this is the type of fund that can make you some serious lettuce if you can remain patient and handle some volatility in your ETF investments.

The fund is well managed and We recommended the fund at $9.54 and it closed yesterday at $11.11.  There is still plenty of room to run here but make sure this is the right type of investment for you as this ETF is a little pricey and holds companies that have some issues.

Fund Basics:

PowerShares Zacks Micro Cap Portfolio (the Fund) seeks to replicate the Zacks Micro Cap Index (the Index). The Index is designed to identify a group of micro-cap stocks with the greatest potential to outperform passive benchmark micro-cap indices and other actively managed United States micro-cap strategies. The Fund’s investment advisor is Invesco PowerShares Capital Management LLC (formerly known as PowerShares Capital Management LLC).

The Good:

Unlike other ETF’s this fund is aggressively managed and will unload under performing companies at a moments notice.

The Bad:

For an ETF the fund has a high expense ratio.

The Lowdown:

This is a micro-cap ETF which is definitely a speculation type of  ETF.  The fund targets companies ranging from $60 million to $600 million market cap.  An interesting buy for an ETF investor who is willing to wait.

Top Holdings

With all of the spending on infrastructure world wide starting to take place in 2010 Tutor Perini should land many new projects to go with its current project schedule which could make this company very profitable in the long term.  Perini is in good position to take advantage of the construction and general contracting boom that appears inevitable in the future.
